The Genesis Dambuster Plugin Adds Beaver Builder Support to Genesis Child Themes

When we released our roadmap blog post, we had an idea as to what some of the more popular feature enhancements would be. What we didn’t realize was just how popular the addition of support for Genesis child themes would be. Aside from the global rows stuff, Genesis support was one of the most talked about features in the comments!

Our original plan was to research whether we could provide better support for all Genesis child themes from within the Beaver Builder plugin or if we would need to create a child theme of our own. Fast-forward a month later, as we were doing our research we got wind of the recently released Genesis Dambuster plugin by Russell and Elizabeth Jamieson.

After speaking with some of our Genesis/Dynamik users, and doing some testing ourselves, it was clear that this is the solution we were looking for. Did we mention that it’s totally free?!

What Does the Genesis Dambuster Plugin Do?

As many of you may know, creating full-width Beaver Builder pages in third party themes typically takes a little code to achieve. One of the primary things the Genesis Dambuster plugin does is make it easy to create full-width pages in Genesis child themes without messing with any code. Additionally, the plugin allows you to do the following…

  • Tweak your theme template on a page by page or post by post basis
  • Remove the header, the primary and secondary navigation menus
  • Remove the post title, entry header, post info and breadcrumbs at the top of the post
  • Remove the post meta, entry footer, author box, comments and after entry widget area at the foot of the post
  • Remove the footer widgets and the footer
  • Remove the custom background image and color

If all of that sounds like something that would be helpful to you as a Genesis user, head on over to the WordPress.org repo and take the Genesis Dambuster plugin for a spin.

Developed by a Genesis Pro

One of the reasons that we decided to back this plugin as an official solution is that Russell Jamieson has a solid track record as a knowledgeable Genesis and WordPress plugin developer. His seven plugins on the WordPress.org repo have a combined 500,000 downloads and are all rated 4 stars or higher. Needless to say, you’ll be in good hands with his Genesis Dambuster plugin.

Your Feedback Is Welcome

Russell and Elizabeth have been active on various channels such as the Beaver Builder users group and are listening to your feedback. Be sure to let them know if you find an issue or have a suggestion as to how the Genesis Dambuster plugin can be improved.

Saw a demonstration of the Dambuster plugin last week and was impressed. It’s crafted with the same care, smarts, and attention to detail that the Jamiesons bring to all their projects. Glad to see this synergy between your respective products and companies. Congratulations! And wishing continued online success to everyone!

Thanks, Anne! We were equally as impressed with the Jamieson’s work. I’m glad to hear that you like the plugin!

I’ve gotten to the point where I KNOW I will want a product developed by Russell and Liz Jamieson even before I know what it does:-P. Everything they have done has proven amazingly helpful. I will be putting the Dambuster plugin to work for my site(s) starting today. And thanks for the beaverbuilder! I was fumbling with similar products for weeks before I heard about it. And guess how I heard about it:-P. Yup. Liz and Russell. Cheers!!

I first noticed Russell & Liz Jamieson when I downloaded their other Genesis plugin “Genesis Club Lite”. It worked out of the box. No conflicts, no need to swing a dead chicken over my head while speaking in tongues to get it to work, it just worked. The same applies to Genesis Dambuster. Outstanding developers and certainly worthy of the praise they’re receiving here and on the repository.

I’d looked around for a while for a page building tool that would fit in with my Genesis/WordPress training course.

After some research I chose Beaver Builder as our recommended page builder tool. But despite being a marriage made in heaven, some PHP and CSS was sometimes required before Genesis could surrender to Beaver Builder.

That is why we built Genesis Dambuster. My motivation was that our students could concentrate on building the sites they wanted using great tools without having to go search on Google for specific code to add to their particular child theme.

Now that the Beaver team have decided to back Dambuster, we are delighted. It’s made all the effort put into the plugin worthwhile. I’d like to say thank you to Justin, Robby and the BB team for being so open, generous and embracing.

Elizabeth and Russell are indeed a rare breed. Over the years, they have continually developed solutions that everyone agreed “simply could not be done”. I am only too happy to call them friends.

Russell & Liz Jamieson are always trying to make life easier for fellow Genesis users, seemingly with complete disregard for their need for sleep, and probably sacrificing way too much grey matter in the process.

    • Jane on August 14, 2015 at 4:25 am

I echo what Anne said, so succinctly. This is a great union for all parties, and the Jamieson’s are indeed a rare breed, with their propensity to not take ‘no’ (it can’t be done) for an answer 🙂

This next-gen collaboration echoes the Genesis community spirit, and helps me know I’m in the right place for the best tools. Thanks to all concerned.

Russell & Liz are indeed technical superstars who are also kind, generous and patient – and really care about their users. Anything that has the Jamieson magic touch is highy recommended for workability, reliability, accuracy and support.

I love all the solutions created by Liz and Russell. They understand the needs and frustrations of Wordpress/Genesis users, be they experienced users or beginners. The Jamieson Team always comes up with a great way to make things easier and faster. It works like magic every time. Genesis Dambuster is the latest example of a well-thought-out well-crafted smart solution that we can all trust and love using.

Will have to look more into this now that i paid for Genesis but not even using it but i still like using the BB theme and with the new features what dose Genesis offer over using a bb theme?

    • Justin Busa on August 21, 2015 at 9:40 am

      Hey Edward,

That’s a great question. I’m not as familiar with Genesis these days as some of our users are, so you might try asking this question in the BB user group on Facebook. There are a lot of Genesis users there that can give you a better answer than I could… https://www.facebook.com/groups/beaverbuilders/

Is there a similar plugin for Storefront (the official WooCommerce theme)?

    • Robby McCullough on October 10, 2015 at 8:38 am

Hey Kaelos! Not to my knowledge, but there might be. Let us know if you do find something..
